Metaphysics

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Metaphysics is one of those concepts in spirituality that has taken on a somewhat different meaning to any of a number of possible definitions including:

  • ‘Philosophical study of the nature of reality, concerned with such questions as the existence of God, the external world’
  • ‘System of first principles and assumptions underlying an enquiry or philosophical theory’
  • ‘Branch of philosophy that deals with first principles, especially of being and knowing’

In today’s terms metaphysics is more likely to be used as a broad term covering different techniques used in spiritual practice to bring people into alignment with their soul-purpose and the pure joy available in the physical world when body-mind connection is explored with spiritual overtones.

An apt description of metaphysics must acknowledge that occult influence and spiritual pursuit of the meaning of life are co-joined in a bid to allow the multitudes to explore hidden layers of conscious awareness for greater connection to Body Mind and Spirit.

Namaste and happy exploring of Self for your bliss in life.

Enjoying the moments

It takes practice and a concentrated effort to get into the habit of really enjoying the moments in life.  When we look at life it is rolled into a lot of moments, some will be pleasant and some won’t be.  Being present for each moment takes away the need for repetitive, unhelpful thought patterns.  So even if you find yourself in an unpleasant moment it is truly better to live that moment in that time rather than have a constant replay taking away awareness from other moments in time.

It does take practice to bring your awareness into the present moment.  Being aware of your thoughts is the major doorway through which present moment awareness is possible.  It is one thing to allocate time for future planning or past reminiscing and another thing to have special events or moments in time overshadowed by repetitive thought patterns.  If your house had been robbed you would not allow the thief continual entry, you would phone the police, put security measures into place or maybe you would even move.  Repetitive thought patterns can deprive you of the joy available in the present moment by stealing your awareness from that point in time.

A little technique I developed several years ago is to visualize the thought pattern as a weed.  Having an awareness of how weeds operate allowed me to carefully follow the thought pattern and imagine pulling it out from the root.  In my visualization I imagine gently removing the entire root, i.e. the repetitive thought pattern, then bagging it and throwing it into an incinerator.  This technique has worked for me.

Train the mind: learn to live now

Cindy Maree: science, personal development and spiritual growth

Ever wondered what you can do to make your life feel more relaxed and content?   Eckhart Tolle writes about being present in the now.  It works because you just look at the immediate problem and ask yourself if you can do anything right now, are you doing it?  It’s a simple philosophy but oh so hard to train your mind to live in the now.  It takes practice just like anything.  You have to spend the time training your mind.

Buddhist philosophy refers to the mind like an unruly child or one of my favourite analogies like a wild horse you are trying to ride.  You have to put the bridle on and train the horse to go where you want and not allow the unruly mind to run wild.  I firmly believe everybody can benefit from spending 5 minutes a day taming the unruly mind.  You can do this…

Overcoming the obstacle of hate

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERASometimes in life people do bad things. Good people do bad things and bad people do good things. To truly experience joy on a daily basis it is vitally important to acknowledge hate in your own heart, for hate eats away at joy, feeds on joy and spreads like wildfire.

How do you truly learn to love your enemy when your enemy has gone out of their way to cause you misery in life? First step is to actually acknowledge that you feel hate for a particular person, place, thing, religion whatever the case may be, acknowledge your true feelings. By truly acknowledging the feelings that are invoked when you bring to mind the object of your hate you can accept yourself completely and in this moment you can set the intention to love your enemy as you love yourself. This is truly the path that the great sages have spoken of for eons.

This path requires true dedication to your own peace and happiness. For to allow another person, place or thing to have so much power over you that you emanate hate at the mere thought of this thing is a sign that you need to spend more time in contemplation about the object that stirs such strong emotion. To deny its presence actually feeds it and gives it power. To truly acknowledge all aspects of you requires courage and complete honesty with yourself. It is ok to not like some aspects of yourself if you bring it into the light of day. For within the light of day, i.e. the acknowledgment of self-judgement you truly set yourself free of limiting and self-defeating actions such as hating when you want to be happy.

Mother’s Day

Happy Mother’s Day to Mum’s all over the world.

Some of you may remember that I wrote a blog about exploring the sacred within. At the time I wrote that blog my intuitive guidance was telling me that it is time to do the Sacred Woman work. Being both intuitive and inquisitive by nature I Googled ‘Sacred Woman’ and found a book title with the words Sacred Woman.

I ordered my copy of ‘’The Healing Power of the Sacred Woman’ by Christine R. Page. M.D. when I went to the Meditation Circle I attend at Crystal Connections. One month later my copy arrived and I picked it up yesterday. I’m about 25 pages in and OMG is it resonating with me. Already I love the book, the way the author explores archetypes and the ‘Great Mother’. For me this book has come at the right time, as with everything in my life timing is everything. I am on my path of exploring ‘The Healing Power of the Sacred Woman’ and the wonderful journey of motherhood, for we are the bringers of life.

Coping with disappointment

Sometimes things don’t go the way we want or situations become out of sync with what we thought was happening. I think it is important to accept how I feel and if disappointment is an emotion that I am experiencing in this moment, I choose to sit with it. I give it a voice and acknowledge what has disappointed me. Maybe you had plans for the weekend, something scheduled for months and you take the time and show up, but something got lost in the process and the plans were cancelled but nobody bothered to let you know. Maybe you showed up two days in a row because for whatever reason on the first day reception told you it was scheduled only for the following day. So taking time out of my busy schedule I showed up two days in a row and I’m sitting with disappointment.

Disappointment never travels alone, there may be other emotions tied in with the feeling of being let down. It is actually ok to acknowledge all of the emotions and allow the moment respect, because this is something that is happening and feelings need to be acknowledged otherwise they sit and sink into the shadow to cause havoc at inopportune moments. Take the time and acknowledge what’s going on in the inner world of emotions and be at peace with however you find your emotions on a daily basis. True happiness takes courage to allow all emotions freedom of expression. I hope the sun is shining for you.

How to navigate your way when people create drama

I’ve set the intention to be peaceful and happy within my own little world. But what happens when other people I interact with actually are not aware that it is possible to live without drama. Some people can’t help themselves and it does not mean they are bad people, it just means they are likely to be subconsciously running a drama pattern. In all likelihood this drama pattern or multiple drama patterns started in early childhood. In some circumstances you might have a bunch of wonderful people all operating a subconscious drama pattern that collides and interacts and creates an opportunity to acknowledge a drama pattern. By acknowledging that a drama pattern is at work and working through any triggers that come up you can actually let it go.

I’d like to think I’ve worked through my drama patterns and released the need to play a part in someone else’s drama. However, it’s easy to take a supporting role without even realizing that’s what you are doing. Self-awareness is the key and the moment you realize you have taken on a supporting role in someone else’s drama pattern it’s important to acknowledge it and make a conscious informed choice about the next step.

I chose to opt out of everybody else’s drama. It is a work in progress and requires monitoring of my own emotions. The moment I recognise that I’ve inadvertently signed up as a supporting actor I acknowledge myself and the feelings that have been triggered. When this happens I’m not resentful, or not for long anyway, because I recognise this is a self-empowering moment for me and provides me with a mechanism for bringing subconscious processes into conscious reality for release and transformation.

Next time you are caught up in a drama pattern be thankful for all the supporting cast for giving you an opportunity to grow and then move on. The people involved may stay in your life without the drama or they may fall away because their patterns require drama. It’s all good just a process to help create true happiness and peace.

ANZAC Day

ANZAC Day, 25 April is a day to remember the fallen and honour those that chose to serve. In Australia we have a public holiday on ANZAC Day and this year marks 99 years since Australia’s armed forces made history at Gallipoli.

I remember watching movie’s like Gallipoli and The Lighthorsemen and being both inspired and horrified by the unfolding drama depicted on screen. I feel grateful to live in Australia knowing that we as a country support people’s right for personal choice. As a nation we value the right to freedom of speech. Thank you to the men and women who chose to serve.

For the fallen by Laurence Binyon (1869 – 1943)

With proud thanksgiving, a mother for her children,

England mourns for her dead across the sea.

Flesh of her flesh they were, spirit of her spirit,

Fallen in the cause of the free.

Solemn the drums thrill: Death august and royal

Sings sorrow up into immortal spheres.

There is music in the midst of desolation

And a glory that shines upon our tears.

They went with songs to the battle, they were young.

Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.

They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,

They fell with their faces to the foe.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

We will remember them.

They mingle not with their laughing comrades again:

They sit no more at familiar tables at home;

They have no lot in our labour of the day-time;

They sleep beyond England’s foam.

But where our desires are and our hopes profound,

Felt as a well-spring that is hidden from sight,

To the innermost heart of their own land they are known

As the stars are known to the Night;

As the stars that shall be bright when we are dust,

Moving in marches upon the heavenly plain,

As the stars that are starry in the time of our darkness,

To the end, to the end, they remain.

Live without limits

Its Easter weekend 2014 do you have any plans to bring new experiences into your life? Symbolically speaking Easter is about new life. It’s easy to get caught up in the Christian view of crucifixion and resurrection of Christ or the commercialism of the holiday season associated with the Easter Bunny. The concept of Easter goes back to the pagan days and is a seasonal celebration of life. Why not try something different this Easter and think about what you would like to change about your life.

I choose to take a deeper look at the symbolic meaning of Easter and I’m allowing old toxic patterns to turn to dust as I create new experiences.  I’m trying to look at the big picture when people don’t act or say what I want from them. I’m giving myself permission to acknowledge all of my thoughts and feelings. Instead of burying emotions that I may not be proud of I’m choosing to bring them into my conscious reality and explore the feelings in a safe and loving way so that I can release and reinvent myself. I like to use a little symbolic visualization to get to the root of my issues.

You can choose any issue to work with, but I’m going to make one up as an example. For a very long time my sister and I had a love hate relationship. She was the pretty one growing up and I was the smart one. Parents don’t get that comparisons are harmful emotionally speaking for children. Recently I noticed I was triggered by my sister and instead of slipping into the toxic love hate pattern I explored my feelings and realized it was stemming from being jealous because I was not labelled pretty by my parents growing up. In my little visualization I imagined my emotions were a weed and I followed them through to the root. It was here at the root that I realized I was still playing out the pattern of being the ugly daughter. In my visualization I imagined pulling that root out and placing it in an incinerator to burn. I did not stop there, I took my visualization further and I imagined planting a beautiful self-awareness that I am perfect exactly as I am. Happy Easter: it’s ok to say goodbye to the old way and hello to the new.Image
